Celicia Thendean, age 16, started learning piano from her mother and Prof. Anna Poklewski. Celicia then continued advanced her studies with Ilana Vered. She had her first solo recital in October 2022 to raise money for her high school music program. Celicia has soloed with many orchestras including the Brunensis Virtuosi Orchestra and Livermore-Amador Symphony. Celicia won top prizes in numerous piano competitions including the Claudette Sorel Piano Competition, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist competition, Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, Philadelphia International Music Festival in both virtual and in person competition, to name a few. Besides piano, Celicia enjoys playing cello, oboe, english horn, and clarinet. She was selected in the 2021 and 2022 All-State Honor Ensembles on cello, oboe, and jazz piano, and was the recipient of the Ed Wolfe Scholarship for her outstanding performance in the All State Middle School Big Band.
Ewen Tsai has performed and taught internationally for over 20 years and has won awards for her Integrated Music Curriculum and her performances. Her arrangements have been performed worldwide. She holds master’s degrees in both Education and Music Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Fonny Chandra, award-winning pianist and co-founder of Anna Poklewski Academy of Music, and Quatro Music Education School, has taught piano for over 17 years. She holds a master’s degree in Piano Performance from Stephen F. Austin University.
Hansen Liu is a music educator and performer based in Pleasanton, with Music Performance degrees in Oboe and Piano from Carnegie Mellon University and University of the Pacific. He strives to help children and adults alike to discover the joy of music, as well as recording and performing.
Mr. Aubel taught orchestra, band, jazz, and choir for 35 years at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton California. Mr. Aubel was honored to be named “Teacher of the Year” in his school district and is currently active throughout the state as an adjudicator, guest conductor, professional musician, and mentor for new music teachers.

Bridge Over Trouble Water benefit concert on May 18, 2019 was absolutely beautiful! Alan Hu Foundation is grateful to the overwhelming contributions from so many people! We especially thank Lynnewood United Methodist Church for donating a wonderful venue for the concert. Bravo to our all-volunteer-star-musicians, Concert Director Mark Aubel, Cellist Ewen Tsai, Cellist Brady Anderson, Violinist Abraham Becker, Pianist Yuting Chen, Pianist Beth Tomlin, Piano Accompanist Jasmine Nagano, Music Teacher Paul Perazzo, Amador Valley High School Symphony Orchestra, Amador Valley High School Mixed Vocal, and Harvest Park Middle School String Orchestra. The concert raised $8220 for Alan Hu Foundation’s mission. Thank you so much for your generous support!
